Got a couple of barrel samples in today. A friend of mine who’s in the industry recently moved out to Washington state. He’s not in Seattle, he’s actually in wine country in the Red Mountain area. He’s discovering tons of good juice and has decided to launch his own brand starting with a red blend (Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc and Malbec) and a Cabernet Sauvignon (100%), both Red Moutian AVA 2014 vintage. Still in the barrel but they show a lot of promise! It’s no wonder Antinori, Duckhorn and Cakebread are all getting in on the action out there. Clearly this is a very promising region with a lot of upside potential. Have you tried any wines from Red Mountain? What are your favorites?
