How did you pull the cork out while the bottle remained horizontal?

      – Nem nehezebb kihúzni, mint mikor függőlegesen áll a palack. 😉

I love the update from a candle to 21st century technology with the light from the phone. I also get not holding the bottle upright to open it, which would allow the sediment to move to the bottom. Keeping it where it is at is a good thing.
    Good job.

So how about another 21st century technology – the coffee filter? Would not straining it as you pour it in the decanter be a more secure way to keep out the sediment? Takes the trickiness out of opening it as well…

Hi Rich, thanks for the comment! When winemakers go to the trouble of creating wines with minimal filtration in order to retain the nuances, coffee filtering defeats that purpose. Also it can add a papery taste to the wine. A fine strainer is a better option but still can add unwanted metallic tastes and strip subtleties.

I think cheesecloth is a good choice. I use to strain my stocks. Always rinse and squeeze dry the cheesecloth before using. Then place on top of a fine mesh strainer, pour wine. No off taste whatsoever in my experience

Well I enjoyed this ,sediment is a nuisance but no one addressed the fact that uncorking an older bottle has it’s own challenges .

Hi Josh, love your videos. I noticed the row of bottles you took the wine from are tilted with the cork up. If you are keeping wine longer, doesn’t this dry the cork? Or is 10-12 years not matter?

Thank you for the info on decanter and leaving the sediment . I’ll be now more careful in the process of enjoying my cellared red wine. I will save the rest for an marinade. Thank you for your professionalism. Remember wine belongs down in the cellar not in the kitchen or liquor dining area.
